FRUITS
Pineapples are extremely sweet and delicious right now. Prices range from $3-$6, depending on size and variety. For an easy tasty meal, try these Sri Lankan chilli pineapple paired with chicken skewers.
Juicy and naturally sweet, plums come in a variety of flavours and colours. Look out for the vibrant, red-fleshed Queen Garnet variety, now in season and packed with antioxidants, alternatively enjoy the golden yellow to green skin King Midasplums they are exceptionally sweet flavoured. Prices range from $3- $15 per kilo, depending on the variety.
February is the perfect time to enjoy sweet, juicy, and crunchy Australian-grown grapes! With over 20 varieties in season, like Thompson Seedless variety is a juicy favourite, Menindee Seedless, Crimson Seedless, and darker pink Celebration grapes. Discover newer varieties like Autumn Crisp, Cotton Candy, Ivory, Sapphire, Sweet Joy and Ralli Seedless. Prices range from $4-$20 per kilo, so there's a grape for every taste and budget!
New-season Sassy (a Fuji apple cross), Sweetango and Gala apples have started. Send the kids back to school with a crunchy apple. New season apples are $5-$10 a kilo.
Juicy new-season William's pears are a popular choice known for their sweet, juicy, and aromatic flavour. These pears have a distinctive green skin that turns yellow as they ripen, and their flesh is soft and smooth with a slight buttery texture. This week Williams pears are $2-$6 a kilo or try the new pink-blushed Qtee pears from Batlow for $8-$10 a kilo.
Passionfruit are 60c-$1 each, depending on variety and size. If you're up for a bit of baking therapy this week we highly recommend these home-made passionfruit cupcakes, they are so tasty and easy to make.
Savvy shoppers are enjoying the flavour and affordability of late-season peaches and nectarines. Sizable peaches are tempting at $3-$12 a kilo.
A must-have for Asian and Mexican cooking, limes add a zesty kick to avocado, coriander, mint, chilli, chicken, seafood, and pork. These juicy, emerald-green beauties are in peak season and great value at just 40¢-$1 each or $3-$12 a kilo, depending on size. Try our char-grilled mango, chilli & lime chicken.
Luscious and honey-sweet, figs are a delight to enjoy. Depending on the variety and size, they range $3-$7 a punnet or loose 50¢ to $3 each. Keep them refrigerated until ready to serve. Pair figs with gorgonzola and prosciutto, toss them into a fresh salad, or indulge in a delicious fig clafoutis for dessert.
Add a burst of fresh flavour to your meals with juicy, vibrant tomatoes! Glasshouse-grown truss and field salad tomatoes are just $3-$6 per kilo, while rich, fleshy Roma tomatoes are $4-$6 per kilo. Sweet cherry and grape tomatoes, perfect for snacking or salads, are only $3-$4 a punnet. Stock up now!
New-season Sheppard avocados have started. A pear-shaped avocado with creamy flesh that does not oxidise (go brown) when cut makes it ideal for adding to salads and sandwiches. Alternatively, there are still quality Hass available. Avocados are $3-$5 each.
VEGETABLES
Light, bright, and full of flavour—Jap pumpkins are perfect for summer cooking! Their sweet, nutty taste shines in vibrant salads, light pasta dishes, and veggie-packed curries. Roast and toss with fresh herbs, and add to a frittata or salad. Jap pumpkins are $1-$2 whole, or $2-$3 a kilo, cut.
Add a little purple to your diet with locally grown eggplant. Grilled, barbecued or stir-fried eggplant is delicious and teams well with tomato, garlic, fresh herbs, cheese. Eggplants are $4-$8 a kilo.
Broccolini is fantastic value at just $3-$4 a bunch. Packed with nutrients, it's a great choice for healthy meals. Both the crunchy stems and mini broccoli-like tops are fully edible, so there's no waste. Grab a bunch or two of broccolini and barbecue with tomatoes and feta.
Light, vibrant, and flavour-packed salads are a must this time of year, and baby spinach is the perfect addition. Easy to use and full of taste, baby spinach enhances any dish. Cucumbers are the ultimate summer veggie—crunchy, refreshing, and full of juiciness. While available year-round, they truly shine in the summer months. The most popular varieties include Lebanese cucumbers ($2.50-$4 per kilo), Telegraphcucumbers ($3-$4 each), and the bite-sized Qukes ($3-$4 per punnet).
Nutritious and versatile cauliflower prices have come back a bit this week, expect to pay $3.50-$5 each.
FLOWERS
February brings a stunning array of seasonal flowers! For a tropical touch, consider bold blooms like bird of paradise and heliconias. Long-lasting natives such as banksias and proteas add texture and depth to any arrangement.
