Enjoy the vibrant colour and fragrance of fresh strawberries! Slice them and add them to your favourite breakfast cereal, enjoy them as a refreshing snack, or serve them as a delicious addition to any meal. Strawberries prices are $2.50-$6 a punnet.

Blueberries are a popular and healthy choice thanks to their attractive purplish-blue colour, sweet flavour, and high antioxidant content. Take advantage of the excellent quality and value this week, with punnets priced at just $3-$6, depending on the size of the berry and punnet.

Harvesting of new Kensington Pride and R2E2 mango season is underway in Humpty Doo. Allow firm mangoes to ripen at room temperature until the flesh yields to gentle pressure around the stem. Depending on variety and size, mangoes are $5-$8 each or $10-$15 a kilo.

Juicy, golden-fleshed pineapples are a spring favourite adored for their tangy, sweet flavour. The best-tasting pineapples have a sweet, tropical aroma and feel heavy for their size. Pineapples range in price from $3 to $7, depending on size and variety.

Afourer mandarins, originally from Morocco and available since 2000, are a late-season variety known for their balanced sugar and acid content. With an average of 5 seeds per fruit, South Australian Afourer mandarins are priced between $3-$6 per kilo, depending on size and quality.

Give Dekopon a try! This citrus fruit features a course, pitted orange rind with a distinctive top knot at the stem end. Easy to peel, dekopon offers large, juicy, extra-sweet segments with a delightful tang reminiscent of mandarins. Enjoy this flavourful treat, priced at $5 -$6 each a kilo.

As the weather warms, we should start seeing more rockmelons, honeydew, Piel De Sapo and Dino melons come to market. Sweet-eating and aromatic, are terrific $6-$8 each depending on variety and size.

VEGETABLES

Take care of yourself by adding some extra mushrooms to your diet this week! With prices ranging from $11 to $14 per kilo, depending on the quality and variety, it's a great time to enjoy this nutritious addition.

Tender English spinach is a versatile and mildly flavoured leafy green that is delicious, both raw and cooked. Add a bunch to your weekly shopping list for $1-$3 each. Use it to whip up tasty spinach and bacon pies or toss it into salads, soups, and stir-fries for a nutritious boost! Alternative robust silverbeet is a choice buy at $2.50-$4 a bunch.

Globe artichokes are a beautiful and unique vegetable known for their sweet, subtle flavour and impressive health benefits. They're a fantastic addition to any meal and are rich in fibre, vitamins, and antioxidants. Large globe artichokes with long, fleshy stems are available this week for just $2.50-$3.30 each. Enjoy them steamed, grilled, or stuffed for a delicious and nutritious treat!

Keep your springtime meals light and fresh with crisp sugar snaps and snow peas. Look for bright, firm, and plump peas, but not bulging. Pick up a handful of both varieties, steam them, and toss with chopped fresh mint, crumbled low-fat ricotta cheese, and a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil for a simple, delicious dish. Sugar snaps and snow peas are great at just $12-$15 per kilo.

Firm, glossy-skinned zucchinis have a mild flavour and need minimal cooking, making them a versatile addition to any meal. Try adding zucchini to risotto, mixing it with corn to make fritters, pan-frying slices for a quick side, or using it grated in a zucchini, tomato, and bacon frittata or even as a pasta alternative! Zucchinis are in season and a great buy at just $5-$7 per kilo.

Crunchy, firm heads of Iceberg lettuce are a top buy at $2-$3 ahead. Cut into wedges and drizzle over your favourite salad dressing.

Nutritious and versatile broccoli from Victoria and Queensland is available this week for just $3-$5 per kilo, depending on quality. Select fresh, bright green heads with tightly closed florets when choosing broccoli. Enjoy broccoli steamed or roasted as a simple side dish, toss it into stir-fries for added crunch, or add to a quinoa salad. You can also incorporate it into casseroles, pasta dishes, or salads to boost vitamins and fibre. With so many delicious options, broccoli is a fantastic addition to any meal!

With its crisp texture and mild aniseed flavour, fresh fennel is a versatile Mediterranean vegetable that pairs wonderfully with citrus, tomatoes, potatoes, seafood, lamb, and chicken. Enjoy fennel raw in salads for a refreshing crunch, or cook it to bring out its sweet, aromatic qualities. Fennel offers good value at just $2 to $3 per bulb. For quick and easy cooking, asparagus is an unbeatable choice. This delicious vegetable is available for $4-$6 per bunch. Trim the asparagus and blanch the spears for a tender, flavourful base. For a classic breakfast, serve it with grilled bacon and a poached egg seasoned with ground black pepper. Asparagus also pairs beautifully with lemon zest and Parmesan cheese, or enjoy it blanched and tossed into a salad with blood oranges.
